From the first roll I developed, incorrectly I might add. Not to good. But still…
Canonet QLIII 19, FP4+, Diafine 3+3, 35mm, film,
This was a pretty underexposed negative that Diafine rescued for me. I still had to do a fair amount of adjustments in photoshop but I managed to get a decent exposure out of it with out exciting too much of the grain. All hail Diafine! Starting to love the stuff.
Not the best image in the world but I like the detail in the snow! Hard to do with digital.
Black Slim Devil, FP4+, Diafine 3+3, 35mm, Toy camera, my thumb, V500, Scanning
Just wanted to post a short article on the developer that I am currently using.
Diafine compensating film developer is really a great developer from a film scanning point of view. The negatives have a large mid-tone range with open shadows and controlled highlight. This is great for scanning because we have no trouble getting at all the information in the negative. Much like a RAW digital file. Scanners love it.
Here is the start of a wonderfully informative series of articles that Stephen Schaub wrote about how to develop and scan with Diafine. Please visit his site, there is a wealth of info there and it is for all skill levels. He makes learning about every thing film very easy to understand.
Canonet QLIII19, Fuji Neopan Acros 100, 35mm, film, Diafine 3+3
Not sure I’m sold on Fuji Neopan Acros? It may have bee my cameras reaction to the cold but every shot I got on this roll came out very soft. I really had a struggle on my hands to get some decent sharpness and mid-tone contrast into this image. That said the grain (or lack there of) is wonderful!! I’m going to blame it on the camera for now, maybe a sticky shutter or something. I suspect that has been happing at certain shutter speeds anyway. Though it was -27c out the day I got this one. Anyone know if film reacts differently in the cold?

I bet its the cold weather on my camera thats giving me the problem. I had just got out of my jeep to get this image, so the cold was not really a factor. It came out much sharper after scanning than the last. But… now there is a bit of grain. Don’t know what happened, same roll, same developer? Oh well I still dig it.

Canonet QLIII 19, Fuji Neopan Acros 100, 35mm, Film, V500, Diafine 5+5,
I think I have a light leak in my camera! Take a look at the bottom right of this image. There is some unevenness right at the frame. I have seen this in some other images as well. I guess I need to replace the light seals.

I like the reflections in this one.

I think it might be better to start shooting my black and white film with a filter. Some images are lacking a bit of contrast.
